President’s Message

Dear Omaha Sports Club members:

The club is very lucky to have elected a fine new executive board: Lois Dorn, president; Bob Godek, vice president; Pat Martinson, treasurer; and Sandy Martin, secretary. These folks have plenty of experience and knowledge that will help them continue our club’s fine traditions. Also, let them know you appreciate their desire to run our club and attend to its operational needs. As ex officio, I look forward to helping the new board members and celebrating in their accomplishments.

Thank you to Thomas Gier and all of his volunteers for the first-rate job they did organizing and managing this year’s Annual Affair. If you were fortunate to have joined us, you know what a wonderful party we had. The awesome music of Omaha’s best band, Rough Cut, kept us dancing all night.

During the meeting, too, we learned that four members in attendance—Roger Blanton, Mike Miller, Lou Secora, and Jim Graver--have each been OSC members for at least 40 years. Thank you, gentlemen, for all you have done for our club.

I would like to know, too, if there are any other 40-plus-year members. So if you have been in the club that long or know of anyone who has, please let me know by writing to me at exofficio@omahasportsclub.com.

Once again, I want to thank all of you for allowing me to serve you these past 3 years; it has been my pleasure and honor.
