Community Outreach - July & August

Our club strives to help our community, and we would like to let you know about a couple of worthy activities and/or groups...

The Great Plains Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America
is in need of volunteers July 25–29. Please call Mary Bushman at (402) 398–1422. This is a great opportunity to give back to our veterans who now live in wheelchairs.

Light The Night Wal
k is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s annual nationwide evening walk. Walkers carry illuminated balloons to celebrate and commemorate the lives touched by cancer. For more information about the walk, you can contact Deb Hospodka at
pdhospodka@cox.net or you can go to http://www.lightthenight.org/.

Deb also is planning another sand volleyball tournament on July 26th to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Contact Deb for more information about the tournaments.

Camp Quality Heartlan
d is a non-profit organization that provides a summer camp and other activities throughout the year for kids with cancer and their siblings. The organization is looking for volunteers to help with various activities.

If you or someone you know might be interested, please contact Marcia Hopkins for more information at (712) 322-0676, or go to
http://hl.campqualityusa.com/.

Please feel free to talk to any board member to implement a worthwhile project, or to volunteer your time and talents. For more information contact Barb Coleman at
outreach@omahasportsclub.com or call 758-0185.
